As I listened to the song The Power of Love by Huey Lewis I began to think about an exercise I would do withe my students where we would name songs with the word love in them and then begin to discuss how these songs madee us feel or whatt memories they evoked.

Paul Mcartney and his band Wings sing of silly love songs. This is a song I would share with my students and we would discuss the lyrics and each time we all be uplifted. I then began to realize that expressing love is not silly and expressing love for oneslef is where it all begins. Their is a power in love that eventually conquers all challenges.

Peter Cetera explains the glory of love in this song. For those that are fans of Karate Kid we remember this song. I listen to this song and I realize that to have loved and maybe lost teaches you to love even more as there is glory in love. Many of you have heard me tell the story of one of my past girl friends who took her own life a few years ago. I am saddened by this however I now have an angel in heaven that I speak to.I will be forever grateful to Pam for her showing me how to care for others and how to accept the fact that others care about me. When I am feeling down I remember a very spiritual moment where we stood on the bridge overlooking the Bald Eagles and shared a big hug that was filled with so much joy and love that it holds a special place in my heart. The power of that loving moment helps me to be a shining light to show people the power of love.

Jackie Deshanon song from 1965 is just as inspiring as it was when it was first released. When was the last time you expressed I Love You and truly meant it?

2: Find a quiet place and journal about love

When you surround yourself in love you will easily express love.

3: Watch a video that moves you to feel love and then remind yourself you are love and you deserve love.

Many times when we turn back to our spiritual teaching we then realize that love is inside us and when we love ourslelves is when we can be loving to others.

Many times I surround myslef with quotes about love so as to express the power of love and remind myslef that it is when you give love that you receive love and experience the power of love. I remember finding a cat (I named him George) dying uder a car and crawling under the car and bringing him home and of course what does a 10 year old do say MOM can we keep him? My mom spent the night giving the cat water and milk through an eye dropper as the cat was very sick. The next day she brought the cat to the vet and then brought him home, George was with us for many years until he finally took his place in heaven. I remember a quote that helped me to see the power of love that this cat gave me, “I may not be their physically but I will always be in your heart,” the memories of George The Cat Live on and everytime the family gets together there is a story filled with love about Fat George The Cat.
