How to Surround Yourself With Greatness

I am often asked by people, JDOGG how do you surround yourself with greatness. The secret is to get to know people and reach out to them and get to know of there successes and watch what they do. With the advent of social media it is easy to follow successful people who you admire and see what they are doing in their personal and professional life. Many times it is just the fact that you are provided opportuinities that you make. For example a few years ago The Fort Lauderdale Film Festival was celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Fame and the Newpsaper I was working with at the time, The Happy Herald was a sponsor of the event. As a result of the sponsorship I was invited to the screening, where Irene Cara would be appearing. I was ecstatic just to be in her presence then a big surprise occured the PR director of the event came to me and said”Irene can give you 15 minutes for an interview.” I went to my car and retrieved a pad and conducted my first ever celebrity interview. Asigned photo now hangs on my wall of fame of Irene Cara. This along with others I admire hang on that wall to help me surround myslef with greatness.

Spiritual Awakening: Expanding The Greatness Circle

I have had the opportunity to meet many great people, who exemplify the idea of greatness. In an effort to honor many of them I am hosting The Spiritual Entrepreneurs Visionary Awards on 3/24/12. The list of honorees has grown to over 40 with a goal of recognizing 50 people. Two of the honorees are Stockar and Olivia McDougle.

Stockar McDougle attended and graduated from Deerfield Beach High School. He was named to the Sun-Sentinel all-county team and was a highly recruited offensive lineman. Stockar was rated as one of the top eleven offensive linemen in the nation. After graduating from high school Stockar attended a two-year junior college, Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, Texas from 1996-97. After two years at junior college McDougle was named a JUCO All-American and considered one of the top rated junior lineman in the nation. After two years at Navarro Junior College Stockar transferred to the University of Oklahoma.
As a junior at Oklahoma, Stockar played in all eleven games and broke into the starting lineup as right tackle. In his senior year, McDougle started right tackle in all 12 games and was named third team All-American by the Associated Press, first team All BIG 12 by the Football News and Kansas City Star and second team all-conference choice by the Dallas Morning News and league coaches.
Stockar McDougle was the first round pick (20th overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 2000 NFL Draft. He established himself as the starting right tackle by the second game of the 2002 season. In 2003 Stockar started at 16 games as right tackle, a season in which the offensive line set franchise records for fewest sacks allowed. Stockar demonstrated his durability by starting in 32 consecutive games, beginning with the season opener in 2003. On December 5, 2005 Stockar McDougle started his 50th career game.
Stockar signed with the Miami Dolphins for the 2005 season as a free agent. Stockar has a wife, Octavia, two sons and a daughter. Stockar and his family make their home in Parkland, FL. Stockar and Octavia own and operate a real estate/mortgage company, real estate network, inc. and blue tree lending. The company is the official real estate/mortgage company for the Miami Dolphins talk radio station 790 am.

Octavia McDougle shares her smile and energy to help the community

What do you get when you combine a real-estate powerhouse with an NFL wife, philanthropist, mother of four and a daring entrepreneur? You get the venerable Octavia McDougle. Ms. McDougle’s entrepreneurial roots date back to her early childhood in London where her father earned a living as a real estate investor. Moving to the United States at age 9, Octavia has carried on the “family tradition” as the Founder and President of The Real Estate Network International a Real Estate Brokerage & School located in Coral Springs, Florida.
McDougle has been successfully involved in the real estate and mortgage industry for over 8 years and is well respected amongst her peers from all over the world. As such, her career was referred to as a “Real Estate Touchdown” in an article by REALTOR magazine, the official magazine of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS that featured her success story.

McDougle is the quintessential multi-tasker. As an active mother of four beautiful children and spouse to eight-year NFL veteran Stockar McDougle, a first round draft pick from the University of Oklahoma.
Octavia deftly integrates her real estate practice with her NFL life as a large percentage of McDougle’s real estate transactions are with NFL Families. As a long established profession in her own right, McDougle is focused on creating solutions that help pro athletes achieve a better quality of life. “I want my clients to know that I understand their lifestyle and I really care” she says. Given her success clients seem to be getting that message.
Octavia McDougle is also the Vice President and Fame Founding Member of Off the Field (a Football Players’ Wives’ National Organization) , Advisory Board member of The United Athlete Foundation, and has served on the board of directors for Big Brothers and Big Sisters the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States.
She is also an active member of several organizations including Who’s Who in International Real Estate, the Women’s Council of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Realtor Association of Greater Ft Lauderdale, Realtor Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches, Nation Association of Estate Agent’s in the UK, The Southeast Better Business Bureau, Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers, NAACP, The Young Professional Network, and her local Chamber of Commerce.
Stockar and Octavia McDougle currently reside in Florida with their four children Lamonte, Marcus Octavia Shantia, and Olivia.
