As I witnessed many of the events unfolding this week I began to see a lot of hate being spewed by so many people and I thought back to a campaign done by The WWE, Rise Above Hate. When we make a conscious decision through our spiritual awakening to rise above and hold a special place for everyone even those who have wronged us we can start an avalanche of positivism that leads to a world filled with peace, love, joy, and prosperity. When we decide to let go of issues and begin to understand that we are more alike than we are different we can rise above by helping people to become better personally, professionally, and spiritually. It is when we decide to take action becoming a vessel filled with hope, compassion, and love that we will shine a bright light and illuminate the world.
Yesterday was The International Day of Peace. I believe peace day should be every day and we should do everything that we can to preserve the sanctity of life. We should make it a point everyday to rise above all challenges that are blocking us from becoming peaceful and compassionate beings. We should be looking for ways to be of service and value to others daily. Each day in order to rise above we should be looking for ways to be kind to one another. Each day is an opportunity to grow and make a positive difference in our lives and in the lives of others. I suggest that we begin to focus on the positive and to begin to encourage people to assume an attitude of gratitude. If we are truly going to rise above we need to start with being grateful.
When we begin our day with gratitude we begin to transform ourselves and others. I always say thank you and GOD bless when someone does something nice for me. I even thank the people who come to Sinbad Sports and don’t buy anything for coming to the store. By showing gratitude and appreciation we are able to rise above any and all obstacles that get in our way from becoming a better person. After we choose to be grateful we must choose to forgive.
It is the hardest part of being spiritual and that is being able to forgive as our human side filled with ego says you must get payback but your spiritual side say to let go and let GOD. This diametrically opposed point of view causes much consternation and conflict however when you commit to forgiving you not only free yourself but you free the people who may have wronged you. I have come to understand that if I forgive myself and others and I move forward in the positive direction of my dreams that my human side and spiritual side can peacefully co-exist and thus I can rise above any negativity that comes my way.

I believe that this prayer is my most powerful tool that I possess as it reminds me that I can only change the things for which I am in control. Many times the greatest asset we have in our spiritual tool box is our understanding that we can only control what we choose to do.
