Spiritual Awakening: Living The Good Life!!!
What defines the good life? As I have been awakening more and more spiritually I have come to realize that everyone has their own definition of the good life. My definition is to be in a position to be of service and value to others while living a life on purpose. I have learned that there are two great days in your life the day you are born and the day you find out why. Once you discover your why you will begin to live the good life as you will have the ability to put your passion into action and thus you will find your definition of success. I have found that being grateful for what I have and not wanting for what I do not have leads to living the good life. Each morning I awake knowing that GOD has given me the opportunity to use my talents for good. With this knowledge I am able to become an action taker and positively impact my life and the lives of others. As I sat in reflection the other day I began to understand that I have had a good life so far and there is much living left to do. I look back on what I have been able to do over the years and realize that many people can say they have been able to do what I have done. As I look at the photographs and recall the memories I can say that despite some trials and tribulations I have had a good life so far.
As you look through your photographs what will you be able to say about your life. It is my hope that you can say that you have had a good life filled with much peace, love, joy, and prosperity. I have come to learn that it is not about the materialistic things you accumulate but it is about the lives that you enrich. For me it is not about the fancy car, the big house, or the designer clothes it is being able to say at the end of each day that I made a difference in someone’s life. I think the good life is defined by the following poem.
To me living the good life means becoming a lifter for people especially for children. I have come to understand that it cost nothing to be kind and in being kind you create a ripple effect that begets more kindness and thus you create the good life for everyone. In knowing your purpose and following your calling you create the good life. In detaching from the outcome and always doing your best to be of service and value you create the good life.
While I was in college at Hofstra University I wrote the following poem that earned an honorable mention in The Time Magazine Outstanding Student’s Competition. Since then it was published on www.poetry.com and earned a Reader’s Choice Award. It sums up the idea of the good life. It is when we take time and connect with our inner divinity that we understand just how good our life really is.
Take Time Out
By Jonathan Steven Lederman
Take time out to see
a sunrise a new day
Take time out to hear
a baby’s cry a new life
Take time out to feel
a brick wall a hardship
Take time out to taste
an icecream cone a happy moment
Take time out to smell
a red rose an emblem of love
Take time out to experience
the good things life
