Spiritual Awakening: The Journey Begins
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference-Robert Frost |
My journey of enlightenment and manifestation began by follwing the idea of taking the path less traveled by. I have always been one to do things differently or perceived to be out of the norm. There are many that refer to me as a flake, as was the case whenI presented the concept of The Spiritual Entrepreneurs Visionary Awards to members of The Florida Junior Chamber International Senate. I stated this is a way we can make money and help The Reaching Out To Cancer Kids Program. Many reacted stating that the idea of making money off of a charitable endeavor was wrong. I sat back and thought the executive director of United Way gets a paycheck, and many others working for charitable organizations are getting paid and the fact that special events is one of the ways I make an income it was my business being community minded while still serving the desires of my clients. I immediately left their facebook group and went on with my plans for the event, which is scheduled for 3/24 at Unity Church in Pompano Beach. The speakers for the event are leaders in their respective fields, Dr. Mia Merritt, Sarah Spiritual, Rev. Dr. Dee Adio Moses, Ernest Chu, and Ken Esrig. I have now received positive feed back and am surrounding myself with those who are nuturing and encouraging.
The lesson here is to begin and stick to your plan despite the nay sayers.
Spiritual Awakening: Finding Your Passion
During the year 1957, I experienced, by the grace of God, a spiritual awakening which was to lead me to a richer, fuller, more productive life. At that time, in gratitude, I humbly asked to be given the means and privilege to make others happy through music. I feel this has been granted through His grace. —John Coltrane
John Coltrane found his calling and as a result exemplifies the ideal that Passion + Action = Success. What is you passion and what action are you taking to follow your passion and create the life that you want. Here are a few ways you can follow your passion.
1: Be on Time- Celebrate The Moment- Find what you love to do and use your time to do that.
2: Respect Yourself and Others- When you give love you will receive love. When you help others others will help you.
3: Have a Positive Attitude- Believe in Yourself. Put the nay sayers and negative thoughts aside.
4: Work Hard- Hone your skills by working when you can. For me anytine I can get infront of a microphine and use my voice I take it.
5: Study- Invest in yourself by studying others who are successful in your field
In 1994 I made the decision that I was going to compete in The John H. Armbruster Competition for resume writing and interviewing skills for The Jaycees. Everything would be based on my work within The Jaycees organization. I wrote my goals down and I began to research what other winners had done and used the five keys above to help me in my journey. The 1st quarter I did not do as well as hoped, however I learned from the experience and implemented the teachings and in the 2nd quarter I won the state competition, which qualified me to compete at the year end convention. 3rd quarter I didn’t have to comepete, however I continued to chair projects, recruit members, write planning guides, and attend functions. Year- End(4th quarter) came and I was ready I had written down I will win, I am prepared, I am going to National. I won ane i went to The U.S. Jaycees National Convention and competed I naile dthe forst round of interviews and I knew my resume was strong. Out of 50 people I made the call backs(Top 10).I walked into the room where all the finalists would be held until their final interview and I said I am taking home one of the awards leaving you all to battle for the other 4. When they announced the winners during the general session I was named one of the winners. This is a prime example of what the mind can conceive, the heart can believe, you can achieve. I have drawn on this journey over the years to remind myself to follow my passion and make a difference in my life and in the lives of others.
