Spiritual Awakening: Waking America Up To Positivism!!!
As we celebrate the birth of The American Nation this week let us look back and honor those who awakened and rose up to give us the inalienable right to pursue happiness. Our forefathers didn’t like how they were being treated so they revolted against what they perceived to be tyranny and misrepresentation. They became action takers and realized that they were divinely driven to make their world a better place. They made many sacrifices and many would describe their battle as a spiritual awakening as they realized that they had the GOD given right to be happy and prosper. Over the years the 4th of July has become simply a day off for parades and barbecues and don’t forget the fireworks. However for me the 4th of July has taken on a different meaning it is a day where I can wake up my community to the concept of positivism, which is finding a way to be positive while being of service and value. The 4th of July over the years meant I could exercise my right to freedom of assembly and spread some positive energy to those I came in contact with. I remember a 4th of July in 1989 where I met The Coral Springs Jaycees for the first time as they were sponsoring The 4th of July Activities in Coral Springs and circulating a petition to ban the burning of The American Flag. As someone who had many family members and friends serve our country I had no problem in signing the petition. I was invited to their meeting. I attended that meeting and I saw The Jaycees Creed for the first time.
That night was part of the furthering of my spiritual awakening process. I quickly began to get involved in projects and saw first hand the difference you can make when you commit to the concept of positivism. The Jaycees Creed has become one of my anthems to remind me daily that I have a purpose to help other people excel and to wake people up to the concept of positivism.
Spiritual Awakening: Ways To Spread Positivism!!!
In many cities across our great country there will be many celebrations to commemorate the founding of our country on July 4, 1776. One way that I spread positivism is I attend the parade with my Relay For Life gear on and I carry a canister to collect donations I will walk the parade route asking attendees if they would like to help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. I will then attend the fireworks in my community and again ask people for donations. This usually brings out the good in many people as they donate and make positive comments about what I am doing. Some even inquire about Relay for Life. I always have my business cards with me to hand those that inquire about Relay For Life and I ask if they have their business cards with them. In shining my light and doing a good deed I am then giving others permission to shine their light and encouraging them to spread the concept of positivism to others.
After the 4th of July you can continue to practice positivism by conducting random acts of kindness. It is very spiritually uplifting to know that you are doing something for someone with no expectation of return. When you are randomly ind and do something nice you just may wake up someone else and they will be mover by your actions that they follow suit. There is a coffee shop where people go in and pay for a coffee and say to the counter person don’t make mine save it for someone who can not pay. This has proven to be a great practice that has sparked a movement across this community to pay it forward not only at the coffee shop but at restaurants through out the community.
I remember being in The Philippines as a U.S Peace Corps Volunteer it was day 3 of our training. We had gone out to an Italian Restaurant in Manilla. We had left overs and took them with us when we encountered a few street kids. They looked hungry so we gave them our left overs. The kids seemed very happy. We knew then that we had a sense of purpose to spread positivism everywhere we went. Upon returning To The United States in February 2003 I made a vow to stay positive and spread positivism everywhere I went.
As you celebrate this week be safe and stay positive. Please share how you are spreading positivism.
