Spiritual Awakening: Finding Recreation!!!
In the early 90’s I taught Canoe and Kayaking at The Pinecrest Day School Summer Camp in Fort Lauderdale, FL. To be able to be on the water all day and be in touch with nature was the beginning of a spiritual awakening for me. As I was reflecting back on the spiritual growth that I experienced that summer I began to look at the word recreation and I broke it down to re creation meaning recreating who you truly are and finding ways to get and stay centered and grounded so that your divinity and shining light is seen by others and just perhaps your new way of looking at things shifts the paradigm of your own spirituality allowing for personal and professional growth.
I have always been drawn to water. Yes that is me 3rd from the left in the front row, when I swam competitively in high school. In my 3 years on the team I had to find ways to recreate myself in order to compete. I wanted to do short course and I had a great quick arm turnover, however GOD wanted me to be a distance swimmer and I changed to do the 500 yard free style and the 1650 yard freestyle. As I change and adapted I got better and better. During training when I was in the water there was a sense of peace that came over me as I started to understand the importance of making the mind, body, soul connection. As a competitive swimmer one had to be disciplined in everything they did from nutrition to practice schedules and of course the academics. On top of it all I had a part time job. I managed as I began to understand that you can do everything you desire if you plan your work and work your plan. I did not know this at the time but this was the start of creating that oneness consciousness with GOD and the beginning of understanding that GOD will provide. I stopped swimming competitively after my sophomore year of college as I realized that GOD had some other plans for me and thus began another re-creation period.
One of my trips while in serving as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer was to Pagsanjan Falls. It was a great time of reflection and rejuvenation while also discover a bit more about my re-creation. As I said I have always been drawn to water and the amazing spiritual power that it possess. I have found that trip to the beach, resorts with waterfalls, or to my pool have always assisted on my path to getting and staying grounded as I make transformations to re-create myself. If one is not growing they are dying and thus it is important to take time to find recreation.
This is the Nantahala River in North Carolina. As a C.I.T. at Camp Mountain Lake in North Carolina I had the chance to go rafting on this lake. The experience was amazing and as I studied more and more of the spiritual power of water I realized that water is a great place to find recreation. In finding recreation you begin to see just how much you can change if you are willing to change. If you watch what happens when you skip a stone across the water you can see the vibrational patterns and connect with the resonance of the water.
Spiritual Awakening: Finding Recreation – Water
In a dream scape, water would represent the emotions. The type and nature of the water would indicate what type of emotions you might be dealing with.
In many forms of symbolism, the water is used to represent the emotional aspects of the human being and their psyche…for instance, tarot cards as well as dream interpretation…take the nature of water and break it down to descriptive terms. It flows, it falls, it waves….is influenced by the moon…can freeze, become steam, can be liquid – it is the only matter actually on earth that can be held in all three phases of form simultaneously.
I got this far before I re-read the question and realize what the other posts were stating. Interesting…yes water does cleanse. Nice addition here…when we process our emotions and allow them to play through and clear our energy…it clears our bodies on many levels.
earth – wind – fire – water … they translate to:
earth – the body and physical matter, terre firma
wind – communication, air, thoughts and ideas
fire – passions, spirit, energy
water – emotion, intuition, feelings
As we begin to recognize the symbols within our world…everything begins to tell us a story.
Use the power of water to find recreation. Stay Positive!!!
