Spiritual Awakening: Hope, Healing, and Heroes!!!
During the spiritual awakening process many times we may find ourselves holding out for a hero when all the time this hero lies with us. So many times we are along the path seeking hope and healing and we continue to hold out for that hero to come along and rescue us only to understand that that hope in healing comes from our becoming one with GOD and becoming our own hero. We become heroes the minute we decide to take action to walk in our truth and shine our light bright knowing that all the answers are inside of us and contained within our own divinity. The heroic acts of others may fuel us and inspire us, however it is standing for our beliefs and being of service and value that truly makes us a hero.
David Bowie has created what has become an anthem for many reminding us that we can be heroes. In many cases it is through our own spiritual awakening that we awaken others be it through art, music, poetry, our community service, or simple showing kindness. You can be a hero simple by supporting a cause or keeping your word and living a righteous life. In my life I have found that I have a gift for writing and when I share this gift through my poetry I not only enrich the lives of others but I also enhance my own life. In my writing it is my desire to provide hope and healing to those who read it and to be seen as a hero in their life.
Hope has become a theme of mine as evidenced by my involvement with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life. My site to make donations for The 2014 Relay For Life is http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina I wrote the following poem as I wanted to give hope to those who were affected by this devastating life occurrence. I then wrote Hope Prevails II to illustrate more of what was happening in the world.
Hope Prevails
By Jonathan Steven Lederman
A flag is tattered a house shattered no food, no water,
a parent’s search for their daughter reunited a family together
Hope Prevails.
A baby born under the storms
born healthy, happy, and saved provides a smile today
Hope Prevails.
Rescues continue supplies arrive
strangers become friends
Hope prevails
Communities work in unity
helping all to find dignity a nation unites
Hope Prevails.
Hope Prevails II
By Jonathan Steven Lederman
A smiling face
after a hard political race
Hope Prevails
People pulling together
during stormy weather
HOPE PREVAILS
A party filled with hope and desire
after rebuilding from a fire
HOPE PREVAILS
A happy surprise
as flood waters rise
HOPE PREVAILS
Communities gather loose change
to ease the gas crunch pains
HOPE PREVAILS
Fathers and Sons together
again after wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
HOPE PREVAILS
Warrant reminds us that heaven isn’t too far away and by being a hero to someone will help you to get into heaven and to have eternal life. I have often said that their is no price you can put on kindness and that by being kind you are being heroic. When you make sacrifices for others you become a hero it can mean donating blood, sitting in a hospital holding a loved one’s hand, a simple smile at a stranger, or just getting up every day and answering the question of how can I add value to someone’s life. As I think of hope and healing and being a hero I am reminded how important it is to celebrate life.
The Following was written and presented at Relay For Life.
Celebrate Life
By Jonathan Steven Lederman
We gather tonight United in this fight
People from all walks of life Overcoming hardships and strife
Walking for 18 hours
Showing the power Coming together
So that Cancer is beaten forever
May the lights shine bright
As you continue your fight
The survivors you inspire
With your courage and desire
Caregivers you motivate
With dedication and the hope you create
So gather everyone with your teammates
Say a prayer or two
For your loved ones, friends and you
Celebrate Life!!
The following was also written and presented at Relay for Life. Relay for Life is definitely a life that provides hope and healing and turns ordinary people into heroes.
A Glorious Night
By Jonathan Steven Lederman
The Track it is lined with survivors and teams
with goals even higher,
They are hear to celebrate life
while paying tribute to overcoming strife,
This race it has no finish line
as it gives people peace of mind
The lights they shine bright
as we walk through the night,
We give hope and care
so one day everyone can share
in a world free of this disease
and people can be at ease
tonight is a glorious night
filled with hope and peace
what a sight!!
Spiritual Awakening: JDOGG’s Hero!!!
I have had many heroes in my life but no one more significant than my mother, Judith Miller. My mom was my hero as she encouraged me and allowed me to explore my spirituality. She provided hope and healing along my path until that July 5, 2012 day when GOD called her home. I remember one of the best gifts she gave me, Don Miguel Ruiz’s Four Agreements.
It were these agreements that have put me on a path to connect with my inner divinity and to create a oneness consciousness. IT was my mom who encouraged me to write poetry and now when you visit www.poetry.com and type in Jonathan Steven Lederman you will find several of my poems. In honoring my mother’s memory I have committed to provide hope and healing to others and to be the hero that she saw in me.
In closing this entry I hope this poem provides a healing and allows you unleash your inner hero.
Desire
By Jonathan Steven Lederman
The heart fills with a fire
to change your world is your desire
Like a ripple in the Mir
your deeds people admire
The mind expands thinking of a grand plan to help other people excel
proving that all is well
The arms raised in victory
innocent is your plea
as you were only helping me
to be happy and let it be
What is your Desire?
