Spiritual Awakening: Becoming Heart Centered!!!

Over the last several years I have had the pleasure of meeting many people who are truly heart centered. These people put others first asking how they can be of service and value to others. They are constantly looking for ways to make the world a better place. When asked for support they are the first to step up. These heart centered people make up less than 5% of the population, however they are the ones who are most successful in their personal and professional life. One of these people is Kristin Planinz, whose email resonated with me and she gave me permission to share it here on this blog. When I first started this blog it was to share with others so as to empower and inspire them to enhance their personal and professional life. Thank you to Kristin Planinz for sharing her insight.

How to See When You Can’t See

True Story #1:

Yesterday I was practicing gratitude and I decided to show some gratitude by doing something nice for my husband (Kyle). So I filled up the car with gas before he left to work. I was laughing to myself, thinking of how happy he would be when he discovered what I did and I anticipated a lovely phone call just a few minutes after he left.

I got that phone call, but it wasn’t lovely. As he rushed off to work he didn’t notice the gas gauge and attempted to refuel the tank. But when the gas refused to fit where it couldn’t, it ended up all over Kyle instead and he got angry!

His first impulse was to blame me for his misfortune. Why didn’t I tell him what I had done? He would have experienced gratitude knowing what I had done and gone on his merry way to work, avoiding the whole unpleasant encounter.

My perspective: why did he not look at his gauge? Why did he set himself up to be rushing so much that he didn’t look at what was right in front of him? How could I have known he wouldn’t see?

True Story #2:

Last week I put a broken dining room chair out in the trash. I noticed it disappeared before the trash-man came and I wondered who would want a broken chair? My husband had told me he couldn’t fix it.

Today I walked into the dining room and Kyle pointed to the table and said, “look.” I looked, but I was clueless. What am I looking at? It wasn’t until he verbalized, “there are four chairs at the table instead of three” that it clicked in my brain what I was supposed to see.

For a brief moment I couldn’t fathom how it was possible until Kyle once again revealed to me that our neighbor had come over and returned the chair to us fixed. Because I hadn’t seen or heard anything, it took me a moment to accept this reality. And now I am overjoyed by the kindness of my neighbor.

When was the last time you were pleasantly surprised?

Can you remember what it felt like?

And when was the last time you were unpleasantly surprised?

Can you remember?

My gut feeling on this is that there’s a learning opportunity here for us both and it has to do with TRUST and ACTION.

In BOTH cases, the action taken came from love and with the pure intention to bless us.

In BOTH cases, both Kyle and I initially failed to see the gift when it was literally right in front of our eyes.

Sometimes when we take action we get the results we expect. And sometimes we do not. But just because we don’t get the results we expect doesn’t mean the action we took was wrong or that we have somehow screwed things up. This is easily seen when you’re doing something nice for somebody, like me filling up the tank and my neighbor fixing the chair.

Taking action is the ultimate form of self-trust.

When you act on a guided feeling or thought, you demonstrate to yourself and to the Universe that you do indeed trust your inner guidance and the Divine.

Action always precedes results, and sometimes in the lag time, we wonder if we’re doing the right thing.

And sometimes in the lag time, the gasoline comes out when it’s supposed to go in, but always there is an opportunity waiting to be embraced.

When this happens, three things are necessary:

1. Refrain from moving into “victim energy” –“you should have told me,” “you should have seen.” (We both bantered back and forth with this energy for a little while and it felt like a forced game of Ping-Pong. Not fun!)

2. Trust the action you took. Guided action is born from the highest intentions, just like my neighbor fixing the chair for us.

3. Open your eyes and look for that thing you just can’t yet see. There’s an opportunity and a blessing waiting for you personally, whether it’s a full tank of gas or a new chair.

Sometimes we need help to see. And sometimes the blocks must be removed before we can see. Here is wisdom waiting for you to scoop it up and joy desiring to be embraced.

What are you waiting for?

What action will you take today to SEE the opportunity?
