Spiritual Awakening: The Commitment Ceremony!!!
When one uses the word commitment it has two effects on people they either face everything and rise or forget everything and run. When I began my spiritual journey I held a commitment ceremony where I committed to GOD to do everything to glorify his name. In making this commitment and staying on my spiritual path I have experienced several spiritual awakenings. The first lesson I learned is that when you take action not everyone is going to understand why you are doing what you are doing. Second they don’t need to know unless what you are doing truly resonates with them. Third that regardless of any obstacles that may get in the way you must adapt and overcome those obstacles. In making the commitment to be of service and value to others you will find that your spirituality will be enhanced. You will also find that you are more in touch with your own divinity then you thought. You will begin to experience a oneness consciousness where you feel GOD’S presence in all you do. In asking will my action glorify GOD and be of service and value to my personal and professional life and those I come in contact with you will be able to commit to those activities that are aligned with you mentally, physically, and spiritually.
When you do your commitment ceremony you will begin to see that instead if using the word try you use the words I will. A great example of this is my fundraising for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Boca Raton. When I began my fundraising and encouraging people to visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1 I wrote down I Will raise $1500. As of today (6/9/2014) I have raised $2193. There were some trials and tribulations along the way as people promised to donate and didn’t honor their commitment. Instead of getting made I realized that not everyone you deal with is going to be a person of integrity and do what they say they are going to do. Instead of focusing on those that welched on their commitment I decided to honor and celebrate those who did make a donation. A big part of the spiritual awakening process is to walk your talk and deliver on what you promised and if you are challenged to honor a commitment then it is imperative to be upfront from the beginning. Those that did not honor their commitment did not hurt me they only hurt themselves as they lost an opportunity to have my support in the future. Each day during the spiritual awakening process I learn more and more about myself. I have learned that as long as I make good on my commitments and am righteous in my dealings with others then I will move forward to becoming an enlightened being.
