How to Surround Yourself With Greatness

I am often asked by people, JDOGG how do you surround yourself with greatness. The secret is to get to know people and reach out to them and get to know of there successes and watch what they do. With the advent of social media it is easy to follow successful people who you admire and see what they are doing in their personal and professional life. Many times it is just the fact that you are provided opportuinities that you make. For example a few years ago The Fort Lauderdale Film Festival was celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Fame and the Newpsaper I was working with at the time, The Happy Herald was a sponsor of the event. As a result of the sponsorship I was invited to the screening, where Irene Cara would be appearing. I was ecstatic just to be in her presence then a big surprise occured the PR director of the event came to me and said”Irene can give you 15 minutes for an interview.” I went to my car and retrieved a pad and conducted my first ever celebrity interview. Asigned photo now hangs on my wall of fame of Irene Cara. This along with others I admire hang on that wall to help me surround myslef with greatness.

Spiritual Awakening: Your Mission 

Your mission if  you choose to accept it is to lift others up and as a result lift yourself up. There are many people who have taken this mission and have realized that we are all interconnected and that when we lift eachother up great things happen. On 3/24 during The Spiritual Entrepreneurs Visionary Awards at The Unity Church in Pompano Beach you will meet many of the lifters. When this event was first conceived I  started to think who amongst my collegues can I recognize for their work in their respective communities to show that you don’t have to be a celebrity, an athlete, or a politician to effect change and here are those I have chosen to honor.

Spiritual Awakening: Following The Message

It was a beautiful day when I got together with Barbara Theodosiou and Coach Shantel Springer in May of 2011 and we discussed the idea of bringing the community together for a day of Empowerment and Inspiration while helping a charitable cause and thus The Spiritual Entrepreneurs Visionary Awards were born.  Following the message to move forward and create this event there were many things to be done. The first order of business was to secure speakers, we did that and have a great line up.

Spiritual Awakening: What Was Your Lesson Today?

Today my lesson came in the form of a minor car accident as I backed out of my parking space at my condo thinking it was clear another car came around the corner and I hit it. The other driver drove off and parked and when approached didn’t realize they had been hit. The sitiuation was worsened when the driver didn’t said no speak English. This irked me to no end and tried every ounce of my spiritual being, so I took a deep breath, walked away, called 911, and when it was all said and done a driver exchange was done and now he has to contact my insurance company. I hope he understands the process.Thus my lesson was to look out, be more attentive, and patient. I have  always said things happen for us not to us. Today was a message to slow down and be careful. It was source’s way of saying I love you and want you here but slow down and relax and enjoy what has been provided for you.

When I first conceived the idea of The Spiritual Entrepreneurs Visionary Awards I looked to honor 50 people who are lifting people up and helping them to enhance their personal and professional life. As of today  I have 25 people who are truly lifters.  Lifters are people that see the good in others, shine their light everywhere they go, and make a positive impact in the lives of others. When you decide to be a lifter great things start to unfold and your message is maximized and received. My answer is, I invest in myself be it atrending seminars and workshops, purchasing and reading books, purchasing healthier fooods, or taking  time to just unwind and relax. Finding a good coach and putting together a strong team of supporters is another great way to invest in yourself.

This will be my first Thanksgiving without my mother, Judith Miller, as she was called home by GOD on July 5, 2012. I am honoring her and giving thanks for the years she was with us by asking people to visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogglederman and to make a donation. My Thanksgiving will be spent with my dad and his significant other at The Kings Buffet.

When Thanksgiving arrives and the sunrises it means turning on the tv and tuning into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and seeing the joy on all the families gathered to celebrate this day of magic that seems to bring everyone together for the common good. For many it is a time for family and friends while for some it is just another day. After viewing the parade it is off to watch football and share time with my Dad and his significant other, Regina. I strongky believe that the elements of Thanksgiving should be shared on a daily basis. Some ways to do this are:

1: Be grateful for the roof over your head and reach out to help those who may not have this luxury

2: Use the magic words thank you when interacting with everyone

3: Write thank you notes just to acknowledge those who are enhancing your personal and professional life

4: Tak a moment simply to call a client and thank them for their support

Thanksgiving Parade Brings Joy

Despite rain those that attended the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade enjoyed themselves. This made me think what is it that you enjoy about the parade. For me

1: The bands and the entertainers at center stage

2: The Ballons- My Favorite is still Kermit followed by Snoopy

3: The Broadcasters and The Gentlema that does the Voice Overs

There  is something magical about waking up early on Thanksgiving and watching the parade and then taking a moment to reflect of all the good that is happening. This year despite some financial challenges I am grateful for the opoortunity to spend time with my Dad and Gina. The energy of the parade and  the joy it creates is is amazing as it propels many of us to assume a position of gratitude and thus reminds us that when we come from gratitude we open ourselves up to receive and give. It is in being grateful on Thanksgiving and through out the year that we can create great things.

Snoppy is one of my favorite characters and somehow I get balanced and centered when I see him in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. On this special day of Thanksgiving may you find balance, joy, abundance, peace, love, and happiness in all that you do and may your light of spirituality shine bright on others.
