Spiritual Awakening: Blow Me Up!!!!

Today I thought of balloons and how they represent the spiritual awakening process. The balloon starts of empty and then you fill it with air, it expands, and in the end brings joy to those who encounter it. Much like the spiritual awakening process; we begin empty and as we get in tune with our spirituality we begin to expand and as we expand and adopt an attitude of positivity  we begin to bring joy to those we come in contact with and thus we grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. Just as it takes action to blow up the balloon it takes action to create a  world filled with peace, love, joy, and prosperity.  If we are to find peace, love, joy, and prosperity we must be blown up with peace, love, joy, and prosperity. In the awakening process we may adopt anthems that represent peace, love, joy, and prosperity. We may do this with a sign that reads FREE HUGS and hang that sign with a few balloons to draw attention to it  to show those we come in contact with that day that we are walking in our truth and spreading light to all we meet.

Like the Balloon that we fill with helium with a message we must also get blown up with the spirit of the message. If our message is to be peace then we must walk out talk and be peaceful.  One way to blow yourself up is to fill yourself with the message by getting in touch with your own divinity and creating a oneness consciousness with GOD.  In finding inner peace and making the connection to GOD you will begin to create a life filled with peace, love, joy, and prosperity. In answering your calling and spreading your message you will change your life and lives around you by simply coming alive and blowing yourself up with spirituality.

Spiritual Awakening: Trip To Art Show Teaches Lesson!!!

 It was with the best of intentions that I ventured out to The Coral Springs Festival Of The Arts. My thinking was a festival with many people what a great opportunity to fuel my passion for helping those affected by cancer and collect donations for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life. I arrived found a parking spot, went tot he bank to get some cash, and then began asking people for donations. Things were going great I bumped into a former city council member who introduced me to the entertainment person who allowed me to make an announcement about what I was doing for Relay For Life. I encountered some friends from the past who were there and they donated. A local chiropractor made a $20 donation. I stationed myself strategically where people were walking and announced that I was collecting donations for Relay For Life, mot people were very receptive. Then it happened the moment that took all of my lessons on spiritual awakening. The President of The Coral Springs Festival Of The Arts came to me and was very adamant about me not collecting. I did not argue and I said “Okay I will leave,” she kept going on so I ended it with do you want good publicity or bad publicity, she did not answer so I walked away.  As part of my spiritual awakening I have learned not to argue and give people something to think about so they can grow personally and professionally. As I walked back to my car I realized another aspect that I have learned, Some Will, Some Won’t, So What, Some Waiting, Next. As I drove home I thanked GOD for providing me with 2 hours to collect donations and I prayed for The President of The Coral Springs Festival Of The Arts. that the next time someone wants to collect for a charity that she allows them to do so as there is enough money in the universe for everyone.  I also thanked GOD for putting people in front of me who supported my effort today. In the end $62 was collected, which now puts me at $1,371 raised for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton. In being an action taker and following spirit I was able to learn that some people may not understand the universal laws of spirituality. I have learned it is not my job to drag them pulling and screaming into the spiritual awakening process it is my job to shine my light and walk my truth and thus enhance the lives of those I come in contact with.

managing your new year s resolutionsThrough my experience today I had to remember that I resolved to make 2014 The Year Of Transformation and that in transforming I must accept that the enemy will put obstacles along the path to spiritual awakening and it is important to continue to walk with spirit and resolve to not take anything personally, don’t judge, to be impeccable with my word, and to always do my best. These are the teachings of Don Miguel Ruiz and The Four Agreements. I also had to use the teaching of The Serenity Prayer of God Grant me the serenity to change the things I can to accept the things I can’t and the wisdom to know the difference. Today I was not going to change the mind of The President Of The Coral Springs Festival Of The Arts and arguing with her would have been like wrestling a pig in the mud where you both get dirty but the pig enjoys it. In accepting that this individual was given power and chose to wield it the way she did was about her and not me.

Spiritual Awakening: Using Your Spiritual Eraser!!!

 Today as I sat in Dunkin Donuts with my father and his friends one of the gentleman asked me to delete some of the call history. This had me thinking about having a spiritual eraser. As part of the spiritual awakening process it is very important to begin to let that no longer serves you go. It is time to put your spiritual eraser to work and start again. Look at what you have done and what you have learned take what you have learned and move forward and use your spiritual eraser to eliminate the rest. Take action to release your past and move forward in a positive direction of your dreams by embracing today and living in the moment.  In living in the moment and utilizing your spiritual eraser you will enhance your personal and professional life. The key is acknowledge any mistakes or transgressions that you may have made and forgive yourself and seek forgiveness as you use your spiritual awakening.

 As part of your spiritual awakening it is important to use your spiritual eraser to erase any limiting beliefs you may have.  Look back at what may be holding you back and use your spiritual eraser to eliminate the elements that are not allowing you to thrive.  One of the techniques I learned was to use a  statement in the past and up until now I ________.

Spiritual Awakening: Making Positivity A Priority!!!

 When we get up each morning we have a chance to enhance our spiritual awakening by making positivity a priority.  It is when we decide to take action to make positivity a priority that we begin to grow spiritually and thus vibrate on a level that will allow us to be at peak performance and make a mind, body, soul connection.  When we make a conscious decision to find the positive even in situations that appear to be the worst we come through them with a new found perspective and our life moves forward in a positive direction.

 Each day we are bombarded with news stories that may introduce negativity into our  lives and throw our vibration off, however we have the capability to turn the news off and to seek out more positive influences so that we feel better about what is happening in our lives. The choice to make positivity a priority is yours.  You can find positivity in everything even in the passing of a loved one as you begin to understand the circle of life. It is when you embrace the idea of balance and find the positivity that you begin to discover your purpose and calling and thus create the life that you want.

Spiritual Awakening: Giving Brings Joy And Positive Energy!

 As I purchased a gift for my Dad today I began to realize that it is through the giving that you truly receive. I walked into the cigar store and told the clerk what I was looking for and who I was buying the gifts for and he immediately  showed great customer service picking out cigars for my dad and giving me an excellent price. His partner then came in and I was introduced to him and he went into the back and gifted me a small humidor. To thank them I did a shout out to Blitzer Cigars and Lounge on my Facebook page. You can call it a spiritual awakening another step to spiritual enlightenment or karma I call it The Joy in Giving!!!! The Positive Energy that this encounter created really had me thinking as to others ways to create joy. As a result I stopped by my local Starbucks and hung my FREE HUGS sign. It has been interesting as a few have looked at the sign and one person asked me about it.  Part of being awake spiritually is to be in tune with your vibration and how your actions are affecting others.  I set an intention today to spread a message of kindness by doing kind things and as a result I have found that giving creates joy and positive energy!!!!

 A friend of mine, Jason Gilliam-Alexander, of Mentoring Valuable Protégés has banners that say live to give and each time he runs an event he presents the concept of being a lifter and helping others.  In having a spiritual awakening and being on a path to enlightenment you begin to find your purpose and calling thus creating joy and positive energy as you give of yourself and utilize your talents for good. Think about the times you gave willingly and the feeling you had. I know when I come from a point of abundance and gratitude and give freely that I have a sense of joy and create positive energy.  I used to say I have to buy a gift and now I say I get to buy a gift or I say Thank You GOD for putting me in a position to buy a gift. I have adopted an anthem of service to humanity is the best work of life. As a result of shifting my philosophy of giving I have won numerous awards including the Governor’s Point of Light Award and The American Cancer Society Hope Award.  I have come to understand that we do not do the deeds for recognition but instead because of the great feeling of joy and the positive energy they provide. In changing the way you look at things when it comes to giving you come alive and the world shines a little brighter because of your actions.

Spiritual Awakening: Joy To The World!!!!

 When I awakened spiritually I knew that there would be certain anthems that would propel me to take action to move in the positive direction of my dreams. This song has always been one of my favorites for Christmas. As I discovered my calling I realized that if I wanted things to change around me that I had to change the ways I did things and how I reacted to things. As I began to come alive due to this spiritual awakening I began to understand why GOD had directed to do all the community service that I did and continue to do. Through my spiritual awakening I made a commitment to spread joy to others. In order to spread joy to others I had to find the joy in me. Even through the loss of my mother on July 5, 2012 I was able to find joy and comfort knowing that she may be gone from the physical realm but I can communicate with her in the spiritual realm and that she will always be with me. My mom loved Christmas and went out of her way to make sure that our family was always together and that we always did something to spread joy to the world.  When my Mom was alive she would always attend The Jaycees Christmas Shopping Spree for Needy Children and I would always make sure she had a young girl to shop with as she really wanted a daughter. One year I mentioned to my mom that I was going over to pick up a food donation and she handed me $ 50 and said buy extra with this and I did. Those memories of that time together and other time spent  during the holidays motivate me today to carry on by being of service and value to others so as to bring joy to the world.

 When we spread joy to the world and give the glory to GOD great things begin to happen for us. I often quote ” All Things Are Possible Through Christ Who Strengthens Me,” and have found that by following a spiritual path I have more joy in my life. In the past I would focus on those things that were negative and ask why now I focus on the positive and the joy and give praise and thanks.  It is when you make a conscious decision to be joyful that you begin to understand and fulfill your purpose.

Spiritual Awakening: Letting Your Greatness Shine!!!

 Today’s blog entry was inspired by The Gallaudet University Football Team. Gallaudet University is a university specifically for the deaf and hearing impaired. I first learned of Gallaudet a few years ago when my cousin who is hearing impaired came to visit and she shred with me that Gallaudet has a football program. I was fascinated by the way they sent in the signals. I was so intrigued that I started to follow the team. Today (12/23/13) for the 1st time in the football program’s history they are playing in The Division III Playoffs against Hobart University. These 54 players and coaches inspired me to let my greatness shine and I hope that this entry will encourage you to continue on the path of spiritual awakening and let your greatness shine. may the Gallaudet Bison continue to inspire others to shine bright.

 When I think of greatness I think of Muhamed Ali as he is known as The Greatest. Ali had a certain way of carrying himself that exuded confidence.  Ali also had a very spiritual side to him. he changed his given name of Cascius Clay to Muhamed Ali and he stood up for his beliefs. He was so strong in his conviction that he refused to serve his country in Vietnam.  Many people did not like this decision and it cost Ali many years as he was not allowed to box. he kept his faith and his boxing license was restored and he went on to win the Heavyweight Title on many occasions. Ali was a person who was awakened and enlightened spiritually.  He serves as an example to all to stand their ground and be divinely guided with your decisions. Despite having Parkinson’s Disease he continues to make appearances and inspire others to let their greatness shine.

  It was 50 years ago when  John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. I was not born yet, however I studied Kennedy in school and when applying to colleges in 1983 American University asked as one of  its essay questions, what day in history would you change and why. I chose 11/22/1963 because Kennedy was starting to bring our country together and helping people to have a spiritual awakening. Kennedy being the first Roman Catholic elected to the highest office in The United States Kennedy show many what having a strong faith can do for you. Kennedy also gave people permission to allow their greatness to shine bright as he encouraged people to look a t what they could do for their country. Kennedy also started The U.S. peace Corps in an effort to improve diplomatic relations with other countries. As a Returned U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer I can tell you that serving in The Philippines from July 2002 – February 2003 helped to develop a spiritual foundation that has allowed me to make positive changes in my life.  It is using Kennedy’s example and answering the question of how can I be of service and value that we are able to find our calling and come alive. In coming alive we give others permission to let their greatness shine.

Spiritual Awakening: Time For Gratitude And Gifts!!!

This year Thanksgiving Day and Hanukah happen together which had me thinking about gratitude and gifts. I was thinking how can I be a proactive action taker and make this a time for gratitude and gifts.  I came up with the idea to wrap the gifts and insert thank you cards listing the reasons I am thankful for the people receiving the gifts. As that Thursday will be marked by moments dedicated to gratitude and the importance or recognizing and sharing the gifts we have been given.  Think about starting the day with a note of gratitude  and exchanging the notes as you watch The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, then at half-time of the football game exchange another gratitude note, then after dinner you light The Hanukah Candles and exchange the gifts. As I look back over the last year I realize that I have much to be grateful for like 2 brothers, 1 sister, and a sister in-law who really like me and lift me friends who continue to support me and encourage me, and a dad who has been there to help me work through some issues.

 Since awakening  to and embracing my spirituality I have learned that gratitude opens up many possibilities and when you express gratitude great things begin to happen. I have begun to thank everyone and wish them GOD Bless You and the results have been amazing. By expressing gratitude and giving gifts you open up a realm of possibilities to be able to receive.  Thank you to Coach Shantel Smith who taught me the value of being grateful and encouraged me to keep a gratitude journal. Since keeping the journal I have found that the day I write what I am grateful for are some of the most productive days that I have.

Spiritual Awakening: It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!!!

With Christmas approaching thoughts of presents and goodwill to men and women dance in my head. Christmas for many can be a stressful time of year. I am very grateful to Mateja Petje for providing this guest post to help create a stress free holiday season for everyone.

Stress-Free Holidays

Holidays are generally time of fun, laughter, gifts, and spending more time with your family and friends. At the same time, there are many people who are not looking forward to holidays due to not having a significant other in their lives, or are distant from their family members.  This may lead to depression or anxiety. Furthermore, estranged family relationships can be tested when family members who barely tolerate each other are brought together under one rough and need to “play nice.” Does this sound familiar? Don’t despair, with some simple rules and adjustments holidays can be fun even with those challenges.

 First of all, nobody likes to be alone during holidays. “Holiday blues are a pretty common problem despite the fact that as a society, we see the holidays as a joyous time,” says Rakesh Jain, MD, director of psychiatric drug research at the R/D Clinical Research Center in Lake Jackson, Texas. “Many people feel depressed, which can be due to the increased stress that comes with the need to shop and the decreased time to exercise which gets put on the back burner during the holidays.”

Spiritual Awakening: Out Of The Comfort Zone And Into The Positive Zone!!!

 

 When we step out of our comfort zone and we challenge ourselves we find ourselves expanding personally and professionally.  It is when we find our power and strength that we are able to move courageously forward in the positive direction of our dreams. Today I was set to help with The Most Valuable Protégés Basketball Clinic, www.mvpinc.org. I showed up to the gym early and the AYFL Cheerleading Competition was taking place so I stepped out of my comfort zone and parked away form the gym and walked to the gym. Something told me to grab my collection canister for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life.  I then walked tot he gym and I sought out the announcer so I could make an announcement about collecting donations for Relay For Life. They allowed me to make the announcement and most of the audience was receptive and made donations. I then noticed that a lacrosse tournament was going on so I decided to walk to fields and ask people watching the games for donations. Most were  receptive and donated. I then made my way over the basketball clinic as it was moved to the outdoor courts.  It was by stepping out of my comfort zone and listening to the message of source that I was able to have success.

 I have found by giving a new positive energy to something and coming from a position of gratitude that I achieve success. Look at the  way you are doing things and the results you are getting and if the results are not to your liking  make a shift on how you are doing things and the energy you are bringing to them. The key to getting into the positive zone is to understand the spiritual awakening that you are having and to follow the messages tat you are being given and get into a positive flow.

 How many times do you say you are  doing the best you can instead of stepping out of that comfort zone and pushing yourself to the positive zone.  I recently felt really tired and drained when collecting donations for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life. I was a bit discouraged that people weren’t visiting http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1. I switched the discouragement to gratitude and began to push myself to come from a position of gratitude. It was at that point that I began to have more success with my fundraising.  Now when I feel like giving in and stopping I remember why I am collecting for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life.  As I enter the positive zone GOD provides me with opportunities to fundraise such as today with The AYFL Cheerleading Competition and The Lacrosse Tournament. The messages to allow us to succeed are all around us. It is important to become an action taker and follow the messages. It is when you follow the messages and step out of the comfort zone that you move into the positive zone.
