Spiritual Awakening: Zig Ziglar Leaves Legacy of Inspiration

     

It was abou 10 AM on 11/28/12 when the news came across the wire that Zig Ziglar, The Great Motivator, made his transition at age 86. His lessons will live on for many years as they have been written and recorded and they will resonate as they make sense. Think about the first quote as it shows us that we can be great if we get started. The 2nd quote is so very true as the law of reciprocity is true. The idea of being motivated everyday is importnat as it propels us to success. As I reflected on Zig Ziglar’s teachings I began to think about the idea of being inspired and inspiring others.

     On way to inspire others is to do good deeds. By helping others you begin to find yourself  as you find a joy in the knowledge that your act of love and kindness enhanced someome’s life. One of the good deeds that I do each year is particpiate and emcee The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton. It is my hope to inspire people to support this effort and have them visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogglederman and make a donation.  The good deeds we do will last long after we are gone. I have  asked in past entries what will your legacy be?  Zig Ziglar’s legacy was one of hope and inspiration.

         Self discovery is a great way to find your talents to use to be inspired and to inspire others. If you have a great smile share it and see what happens. It is when you begin to be your authentic self that you are able to enhance your life and then enhance others. Write down I am Great, I make a difference in my life and other’s lives, I give and receive, I shine a light wherever I go and begin to internalize these thoughts and watch your greatness come through.

As the holiday season approaches  it is a great time for introspection and internal and external cleansing. As you create an attitude of gratitude you can create a world that serves you better. The best gift you cna give yourself this holiday season is the gift of self awareness and awakening.  Giving yourself the gift of love allows you to take out the trash and end attachments to people or things that no longer serve you. It is somethimes the hardest thing to realize that some people in your life no longer serve you in your quest for personal and professional growth. Many times it is a family member or someone who came into your life as a result of a decission that someone else made and you had no control over the situation at the time. As you got older and wiser and the person who made the decission passed you begin to realize that the only power this person has over you is the power you allow them to have. When you choose to take out the trash and interact on your own terms things improve.

Spiritual Awakening: Lessons Learned From The Courthouse!

        

This post was inspired by the course of events surroiunding my ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign. It was a beautiful morning and I left my home to go work with a client, my mind turned towards my mother who passed on July 5, 2012 as a song came on the radio that really struck an emotional cord with me and I missed the stop sign in my development. I explained that to the officer and he said I am sorry but I have to write the ticket. I later found out from a law enforcement source that traffic citations are at the discretion of the officer. I immediately went to a ticket defense attorney paid $79 and today (11/14/12) I had court. I showed up dressed in professional business attire. I witnessed people in jeans and teeshirts, shorts and sandals, and other various dress that some may consider inappropriate for court. I was amazed by the behavior of some and how they didn’t comprehend the judges instructions. I sat quietly keeping myself centered and grounded. I did not hear my name called and waited to see the judge who instructed me to see the counselor seeated at a table who represented the law firm I hired. I explained to him the situation and I pleaded no contest and the ruling was adjudication with held no points and $125 in court costs(If anyone wants to donate to help pay the fine please use paypal and rd1299@aol.com to do so). I went down stairs to the clerk of the courts and paid the fine. While waiting to pay the fine I witnessed behavior that was quite negative by others. I didn’t say anything I took a deep breath and waited to be called. I went to the window with paperwork and check in hand and the lady behind the window said wow someone who is prepared. I waited for the receipt and as I left I realized that many people in our country need a spiritual awakening.

 The first lesson I learned is that we need to be accountable for our actions be prepared to face the consequences. I ran the stop sign and am responsible despite the reason I didn’t stop. Yes I would rather have used the $125 for other things like a personaldevelopment book, or a massage, or a healing seesion, however being able to pay and put the ticket behind me and take responsibility allows me to move forward with my goals.

 The second lesson that I learned was not to blame others and realize the way things are and the way things should be are two different things. I was thinkibg all the while that I waiting to pay they should print the serenity prayer on back of all the receipts. I also thought there should be a sign that reads stop playing the blame game you made the decision now own up to it.
