Spiritual Awakening: What Are You Looking At?
Many times during my spiritual awakening process I have been asked this question as I tend to look at people and smile. It is part of my outgoing personality and many times people do not know how to react to a stranger smiling at them. Instead of being cordial and saying hello they will become aggressive and I answer I was looking at you and sending positive energy to you. Most times this combats the initial negative energy that this question conjures up. Sometimes in taking action and stepping into our power we will encounter those who have not accepted the idea of being on a spiritual journey and thus don’t get it. Many people feel they are being judged or don’t realize that what they are wearing might peak the interest of others.
Today(9/3/2014) while at Starbucks working on this blog entry I walked by a gentleman who had this logo on his shirt I went to look closer and I explained I was reading the logo on his shirt as I do PA Announcing for The South Florida Gold. I gave him my business card and asked him what brought him to Starbucks. he answered and I told him about my TV Show, The Anything Bucket, which airs on www.wrpbitv.com on Tuesday at 6:30 PM EDT. He thought that was nice. I also met a woman who had a sticker A Pirates Life for Me on her laptop and I asked her about it and she took my business card and really liked my moniker,JDOGG. I told her about my TV Show. By looking around and being aware we find opportunities to be of service and value. We never know who we may be meeting or talking with so it is important to keep looking.
In looking at the bright side of life and being grateful for another day we set in motion the elements that are necessary to improve our personal and professional life while enhancing the personal and professional life of others. In our quest to develop more spiritually and personally we must look at all things as they happen as happening for us and thus we look for the reasons and gain understanding so that we can move forward in the positive direction of our dreams. If you are a regular reader of this blog you know that in June of 2014 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. At first I was upset then I stepped back took a breathe and meditated on the concept that this was a message from GOD to improve on my food choices and on my activities. As I changed from the idea of this sucks to this is really a blessing as it will allow me to make better choices on where I focus my attention and how I eat. As a result my health has improved. In changing the way I looked at the situation the situation changed since that day I have turned more and more to spiritual teachings.
On of the spiritual teachings that have helped me during the spiritual awakening process is The Serenity Prayer. I have learned I can change the way I look at things, the way I react, and what I do.In learning this lesson I have found that i am surrounding myself with people that lift me and do not judge me. I have found that I am removing judgement from my interactions more and more. It is when we truly take a moment to answer the question what are you looking at that we find meaning and purpose in our lives. It is when we delve deep inside ourselves that we are able to discover what has been serving us and what needs to be removed that does not serve us.
If you truly want to change the world you must look inside and change what you may be blocking you from moving forward along your spiritual and personal development path. Look at where you may be faltering and make a conscious effort to change. I have been raising funds for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton, FL since its first year and I have been fairly successful. I used to get made when people said no, then I looked at my reaction and found that there is a better way. The better way was to continue to shine my light and ask for donations and don’t take things personally. For The 2015 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton I have set up the webpage http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg2 and am putting it out there with the thought whomever is supposed to visit and make donations will take the time to do that. This is a big change brought on because of my willingness to change the way I looked at things and what I was looking at. I used to compare my fundraising efforts to others and now I say whatever money I raise is more money than the organization had before I did a fundraiser. In deciding to just do and change my perspective I feel better physically and mentally.In changing what we look at we can better make a mind, body, soul connection.
